How DO you say
“Livaudais” anyway?

*****
Livaudais is a Southern Louisiana name, and is pronounced
“live-a-day”.

I like to tell people,
“just remember, live-a-day…
live every day!”

Livaudais Studio presents “A Joining of Time”, by Jerry Berg

by Jerry Berg
Thursday, April 4th, 5pm-9pm
Artist Talk at 6pm

Thursday, April 4th, 5pm -9pm during the Downtown Gallery Crawl, Jerry Berg will be showing a new series of paintings titled “A Joining of Time”, at Livaudais Studio in Monroe.
Berg, a contemporary realist painter, will present new portraits and still lifes influenced by classic religious and historical paintings. He works in traditional oils on a wooden panel, and utilizes a multi-layer glazing technique to achieve a higher level of detail. Jerry describes his inspiration and methods as “...greatly influenced by the masters of 350 years ago and more recently with the gilded altar paintings of the 13th-14th centuries. I strive to meet the examples those great masters met; in balanced and graceful composition, clear observation, and precise execution. I delight in exploring and merging old techniques and the contemporary realist style and my own modern sensibility inevitably expresses itself.”

Jerry Berg is Associate Professor of Art at Louisiana Tech University. After drawing, painting and printmaking from a very early age he went on to earn a Master of Fine Art in Visual Communications. Jerry spent many successful years in San Francisco working in interactive design, eventually found his own firm. The call of traditional arts always beckoned, and so Jerry scaled down his company, accepted a professorship and moved to Ruston in order to devote more time to pursue his passion for painting and his family.
